, Akron Municipal Clerk of Courts, and staff were busy in 2010 with record breaking filings of court cases.
Jim Laria has successfully managed our most important responsibilities – properly protecting $12 million annually and working with judges, police and prosecutors to duly secure our court records with technological advancements. The Clerk’s Office total gross receipts exceeded the $12 million dollar mark for the 2nd year in a row, with collections totaling $12,630,311.00 for the fiscal year.
The office continues to be modernized and the work environment improved. A current upgrade to the entire computer system has been underway since 2010 and is expected to be completed very soon. The staff continues computer imaging on all civil pleadings, which are accessible on our website. In addition, some traffic and criminal cases are being imaged.
Recognized around Ohio as an innovative leader in court management, Jim Laria has been awarded Ohio’s outstanding Municipal Clerk of Courts. He is past president of the Ohio Association of Municipal Court Clerks after serving 6 years as Educational Chair. Also a past elected member of the Akron School Board in 1995, Jim is a proud graduate of Akron Public Schools and the University of Akron in Education. Laria additionally graduated from the National Judicial College on Court Management.
